Personally I doubt if I could ever learn enough spanish to get by, but a lot of people pick it up with no trouble at all. Just start out in kindergarten and do a little spanish all through school and in a dozen years the problem begins to go away. Comprende?

There are numerous languages and dialects spoken across the country as a result of immigration from around the world, not just from south of the border.

I imagine most adults would have a lot of difficulty learning a second language. Some have trouble grasping a basic knowledge of their own native tongue, much less another language. Children, on the other hand, are more adept at catching on to mulitple languages as brain development in the early years gives them advantage to learn and process such information. Adults' brains are already set and will not be as adept in acquiring new skills. This is why adults have trouble learning a new language and why recent immigrants have difficulty learning a very complex English language.

the Bi-ligngual country would cost us money and lots of it. It already is.

Courts would have to be bi-lingual, Law enforcement, Military, Fire, Hospitals and so on.

I know many of these already provide people to interpret but if it was offical then manuals would have to come in both languages.

I think being bi-lingual is a good thing I speak 2 languages, but to force it on people is not the way to go.

If the hispanic (and I say hispanic becuase they are the ones up in arms, you dont see russians in the street demanding things being printed in russian) well anyway if the hispanic immigrants legal or illegal made the effort to learn english I think they would find more sympathy for the american people.

But they come off as people who dont want to come here and asimulate into society. they come off as people who want to come here and take with no give.

I'm opposed to it. I believe that we need to offer more foreign languages in class but not just spanish. We'd do much better learning Chinese, Tiawanese, Japanese, French , Russian , . We should do better at exchange programs. Students should study a summer at a foreign students home and a foreign student should be hosted here. We are going to be a more global society / let's prepare kids for that.

Absolutely. The language of the land is the glue that holds the nation together. A lot of people have trouble speaking one language, not to mention two.

Maybe the fallacy of an officially English America could atrophy as well.
I see no harm, but if it were me, I'd invest in Chinese language courses. At minimum, we should be working to expand the presence of Confucius Academies throughout the US.

The problem is not the idea of becoming a bilingual country, the problem is being forced to become a bilingual by force so that the 12 million people invading our country are not inconvenienced.

Some questions of my possess. Are those male, or feminine, Siamese twins that you simply search? How a ways aside might those international locations must be? If you went, with Father Riley, used to be it your "rectury basement" that he went into "one time"? If so, then you definitely are not pregnant, simply hopeful. In this answer, alternative the "ry" blend with the letter "m". Dang, you are hilarious.

the problem isn't learning Spanish. The problem is that people who come to this country illegally then refuse to learn our culture. If we were to live in their culture country we would be required to learn theirs. It is a matter of respect. Illegals don't respect our laws, culture, or beliefs. You can't move to a country that isn't yours and expect them to change the language to suit your inability or refusal to learn theirs.

I say we go bi-lingual right after Mexico goes bi-lingual.
