I'm flying from Sydney, Oz, into NYC in January and I'll have 2-3 weeks to holiday somewhere. I've already done NYC in the middle of winter, I'd like to go somewhere close-ish to NYC (or cheap to get there) and warm-ish (or at least warmer than NYC)

Thanks for all suggestions!

In January, you will not find anywhere that is both close to New York City AND warm.

If you want close to New York City, try:
Long Island (NY)
Philadelphia (PA)
Trenton (NJ)
Newark (NJ)
Boston (MA)

If you want warm, try:
Atlanta (GA)
Miami (FL)
Honolulu (HI)
Galveston (TX)

What is cheap to you? Last January I flew from NYC to Phoenix, AZ for about $200 round trip. That's pretty cheap. Check out Jet Blue. They fly (usually direct and inexpensive) to Phoenix AZ (warm and sunny in winter), Long Beach, CA (very near LA but a much easier airport to get around), Las Vegas (it's Vegas, what' not to like about it). They also fly to Florida and some Caribbean destinations you might check out too. Nothing close (distance) to NYC will be warm in winter.
For more detailed ideas, email me or at least let us know your interests.

How bout Hawaii. Its appealing obtainable. the climate would be interior the extreme 70s to 80 during that element. you are able to lay on the sea coast, loosen up on the bar wit a mai tai. If no longer perhaps ft Lauderdall or Clearwater sea coast could be ideas. the climate must be extreme-high quality and you are going to be able to loosen up. i'm prepared on heat climate during the chilly months. haha
