It will most definitely be the Yankees in this situation. Boston's starting pitching is starting to unravel and quickly. The Yankees slapped Beckett around the last two times they faced him (once in Fenway and recently at the stadium). Dice K is no longer effective this year for two reasons: he has now surpassed his previous career high in innings pitched and is no longer as strong as he was early in the year; the other reason being that the AL east has seen him all year and is figuring out his stuff, they are no longer fooled by his pitches. Schilling is pitching like he's already retired, and you really can't rely on a knuckleballer for a solid outing. Wakefield is an excellent knuckleball pitcher but it's impossible to be consistent with a knuckleball. Lester is honestly just to young to have any expectations for at this point in the season, nobody can know for sure if he will break down or take off.

Now that my starting pitching argument is through onto the bullpens. With Farnsworth finally throwing strikes, Joba being just dominant and Vizcaino being the best reliever in the 2nd half and Mo being MO neither team really gets an advantage in the pen. Edwar Ramirez has a "bugs bunny" changeup that makes guys like ICHIRO look silly so think what he'll do to the lack of offense in the Boston lineup.

Which leads me to my last point, OFFENSE. No team can't compete offensively with the Yankees. When they're hot like they are RIGHT now they are impossible to stop. You can only hope to outslug them. With Pettite and Wang going twice each the Yankees would take the series in 7 or less depending on if they get a solid start from one other starter or 2 it could even be a sweep.

Yes, the Yankees won 8 out of 15, but if you say it in a different way, the Yanks won 8 and the Sox won 7, then it seems a little bit closer, right? It's all in how your perceive it. The Yanks have a better lineup, the Sox have the better pitching staff and bullpen. It's their mano against our mano. If it was a short series, I would be nervous. If it's a 7 game series, I would say, edge Sox. Either way, here is hoping the Yanks take on the Angels first, so they can knock em out.

The New York Yankees

I say the Yankees. I hate the idea of either of them, honestly.

But the Sox have been BLOWING it lately, and the Yankees seem like they just want it more. They go on the field expecting to win, whereas Boston goes out expecting to be treated like rockstars.

Whoever is firing on all cylinders at the time. That is really the only way to look at it. You can throw statistics or computer analysis in all you want, but it really is about the team that is clicking.

I couldn't edge either one. People are throwing in pitching, however, you can't forget the Yankees swept three Ace's. On the other hand, the Red Sox clobbered the Yankees as well this year.

Whichever team is on fire, if that happens to be the ALCS.

The Red Sox

If the Yankees and Redsox get that far I would take the Yankees hands down. The Yankees would have beaten the Angels to get to the ALCS and they would be the team to beat.

Based on the whole picture, i'm gonna say the Red Sox.

Better pitching...

The Yankees aren't going to want it bad enough and will also slow down towards the end of the season.

Sadly the yankees because they seem to be heating up at the right time. I dislike both teams and hope they are both knocked out in the LDS
