i want my 1992 nissan maximas trunk to open all the way up instead of just go up like a 1/4 inch. What can i do? Install struts? How do i do this?

It is not supposed to turn up all the way.
Why? If you were driving and hit a rock and the trunk accidentally pops open, the trunk cover SHOULD stay down.
Why? a completely open trunk will block your vision and you will completely lose sight of the road, have an accident (esp if you were travelling at great speed) and heaven knows what other calamity will happen - multiple collisions, chain reactions?
If an investigation will discover that you had redone this safety feature in your car, you can be
1. liable for the cost of the resulting accident
2. Be charged with endangerment, manslaughter , even murder if somebody else ended up injured or dead.
Whats wrong with lifting it up yourself?

Popping up a 1/4 inch is a safety feature. Not meant to be a catapult.

Go to ware they sell after market parts like the wing and ask for the shocks for your application

Take it to a body shop and have them install air shocks.
