If you just have 20-30 addresses, paper is better than a Palm. I have over 1,000 addresses, though, and the Palm helps me find who I want when I want them. I add any amount of personal or pertinent information as a "note" that I may need when I call that individual or business. I add business hours, once I know them. I put key words in most business listings, like "plumber" or "taxi," so I can pull up a list of all the plumbers I might have used in the past, etc. This helps if I can't remember someone's name or a business name, as it is easy to use the search function. I created categories that are specific for my needs, also. You can make something like 20 categories. You can open up just the category you are looking for if you can't remember who it was in the next town over who did such a nice job on whatever it is you are looking for. In my field, I have a category for pharmacies. Suppose someone tells me, "I go to that pharmacy inside the Shop-Rite in Elmer, but I can't remember the name." I can find it quickly and make the call. I keep all of the pharmacy codes on record also, so I know that I need to press 8, 1, 2, before I can dictate a prescription. Or was it 9,1,9 (dictate) 7,2 to exit? Yes, they do get that complicated and it keeps me from listening to the whole menu of every pharmacy every time I call.
I use the calendar to record and remind me of appointments, of course, but I also put other records in the calendar and set them as annual reminders. This is good for birthdays and anniversaries; reminders to get the copier cleaned, for secretary's day; or a record of the last oil change, etc. If I read about a movie I want to rent, I put it in my Palm.
I have about 100 "Memos" in my Palm. This includes a list of movies I want to rent (lame) and also a list of my passwords. Well, I have a reminder about various passwords, but not the actual password. In the Password memo, I must have 50 different places recorded. I put down my log-in, as some use a user name and some use an e-mail address. I use different e-mail addresses for retailers than I do for personal places, so I need to keep track of that somewhere.
I keep updated directions for how to get to MY locations, as they are transferred to my computer every time I HotSync the Palm. This way, I can either quote them over the phone with accurate mile readings or I can copy and paste it into an e-mail from the Desktop program that comes with the Palm.
I only have two additional programs installed on my Palm. One is a professional program that I use almost daily and the other one is a star chart. Oh yeah, I have Biorhythms, for fun.
I don't know what you do for a living, but there must be a Palm-oriented program that would become of great value to you if you decided to use it.
I have tried music, just for fun, and it works fine, but I'm just not into that. I don't have an iPod either...
I have about 30-40 photos loaded onto the Palm. Now I don't have to carry them in my wallet. ;-) If anyone says, "Do you have any pictures of your family?" I'm ready for them. Besides, I actually look at them myself every now and then...
I use the Note Pad to jot down a quick note in the middle of the night. Once I have it written down, I can go back to sleep without worrying about forgetting something. I can do this without turning on any lights, as the Palm makes its own light.
Oh yeah. I play Solitaire when I'm in a boring lecture...
The desktop version of Palm software is the fastest database I have ever used. You can find people almost in an instant with this software. Even if you didn't use the Palm itself, this is a nice piece of software.
However - if you have to LOOK for things to do just to use the thing, don't bother! If you are getting along well without it, why complicate your life? It's one more thing to carry, one more thing to worry about breaking, one more thing to become dependent upon. Believe me - it WILL break down and you WILL be lost without it if you have a lot of your information invested in the Palm. Sell it to me if you can't figure out what to do with it.

Having nearly wore out my Palm M100 and now using a Palm Zire that a friend gave me due it wound up in his desk drawer for lack of use, I too am looking for more software for it. I wear two pocket snap type western shirts, so I carry my palm and my cell phone in my right pocket. Mine gets more use on the note book page daily, but I also play chess and majong on it during my Waffle House coffee breaks. I also import photos etc. to it from my computer due the version of MGI photosuit that I have, came with Palm software. There are tons of freeware and shareware stuff out there on the net as well as the stuff the Palm store emails keep trying to get me to buy. If you really don't want it, don't trash it, send it to me. That would be quite an up-grade from my tired old Zire.

i think that the hp 111 is a very snazzy device, and with my personal experience, windows mobile is great because it is like a mini windows, so it is very familiar if you have a windows desktop or laptop.
