My boyfriend and I are having a debate about what a davenport is. My Grandma used to say "go in the davenport" like it was a room. My boyfriend says that a davenport is a sofa and that his grandma would call it a sofa. So what do you think it is?

Lindsey, to my knowledge, a davenport is a couch or sofa. Sorry, to disagree with ya, but that is what I think it is. Rock On!

A "davenport" is indeed a sofa (or small writing desk), so "pay up" to your boyfriend !!
Now, if your grandmother had said, "Go into the davenport and get me a sheet of my stationery so I can write a letter." -- then maybe you could be correct, also !
