we are having people tell us that wrestling is all scripted and that we should get a life,,,and thats fine with me, you know and i know that its scripted, we are not stupid, we all know its entertainment, so to all the peolple who think we are sad for watching wrestling i have a few pointers for you, cinamas and movies are entertainment also, and they are scripted and most movies have stunt people and actors and you watch them, so how is that any different, the difference is wrestling is live and you have to get things right the first time because there is no take2, 3 or 4 and you see mistakes, like when joe mercury got his face smashed in by a ladder at the hands of the hardy brothers, and that was cool, plus its alot harder to do these moves with minimum pain and injuries and some wrestlers lose there lives because of what they do, you should have a bit more respect for what these men and women do just to entertain us

Wrestling is NOT scripted. However, in the art of Greco-Romano wrestling, a lot of people can get hurt if prior arrangements are not made and stuck to. By that I mean, every wrestler understands the dangers and will therefore avoid such as poking in the eye and other such underhand [out of the sight of the ref] nonsense.

There is an agreement [unwritten] between wrestlers in that you do not damage your oppoinent so that he is unable to make his living. You can floor your opponent and get to the count of three, if he will let you that is. You can also give him a fore-arm smash across the face.

What you cannot do is poke fingers and thumbs into eye sockets, knees into the groin etc.

Wrestling is a great sport and watched by millions.

I am only sorry that we no longer get regular wrestling on TV here in UK. Back in my misbegotten youth in the 1960s, we used to have regular wrestling on TV on ITV Sports, they could not then afford the soccer, so got cheap wrestling instead. It had a massive audience including HM Queen would you believe - yeah!

The guy who did the commentary back in the hey-day of TV wrestling here in UK was Kent Walton - he had a fab mid-Atlantic accent which everyone loved. His voice alone was draw enough for some grapple fans.

You "get" it. The difference between pro wrestling and the movies is "Hollywood" never tried to advertise its' movies as anything but entertainment. Until fairly recently the "secrets" of pro wrestling were closely guarded (you had to be in the business to be let in on the "secrets"). We know the matches are (generally) well-choreographed fight scenes with the "winners" decided before the matches start. Vince and "everybody in the back" know we know this; JR and the King know we know this; the wrestlers know we know this. We just don't advertise this (to keep up the mystique). The thing is, the "superior" non-fans, the ones who make fun of us or insult us for enjoying the show, apparently don't know that everybody is in on it. This is ironic. These smug, "superior" wrestling-bashing non-fans are the biggest marks in pro wrestling and they don't even know it.

You're pretty much on the money with that my friend.I get stick from mates who say WWE/TNA is fake & scripted.Yet it's ok for them to watch EastEnders & action movies.
I agree 100% on the no-2nd chances in-ring with another "take".There's a stack of stars out with legit injuries - HBK, Edge,Taker.Gregory Helms,Bobby Lashley.HHH is only back after months out with his quad injury as is Mark Henry.
Past really serious injuries include Stone Cold & Lita both getting broken necks in their respective matches. With Austin, he was never the same after it.Owen Hart tragically died in-ring at the Over the Edge ppv in 1999 after he fell.
It;s more than entertainment & more than a sport.Which is why i continue to watch WWE & TNA & love every minute of it.

I don't watch wrestling, I find it boring after 5 minutes... However I agree with you and have much respect for anyone that can be in that type of physical shape, slam and get slammed... Its a great show. My favorite in the past was the Undertaker's manager Paul Bearer, the name alone was golden. "Im going to tell you one thing Jimmy Heart, Friday night is going to be a grave situation".

So for those who think its stupid , it is but so was the three stooges or mel brooks movies... ITS A SHOW!

I agree with you 100%, but you know there are still those people who are going to sit there and complain that we have no idea what we're talking about, much less that wrestling is scripted.
