I am a male Roman Catholic who began current job almost 2 years ago. While interviewing me my future boss asked me what I was getting my Masters Degree in; I told her Theology. Shortly after beginning my job she would constantly ask me questions about my religion and why I believed in it. She also told me she wasn't a practicing jew. During working hours she would constantly ask me questions about my religious beliefs. One day while talking to me about "sins" I told her I believe in confession (confessing my sins to a priest) and she said to me "oh, come on you're much to bright to believe in that." I told her I do believe in that and she laughed at me in a room with at least 10 other people. She kept talking to me about reincarnation and gave me books on it even though I told her it was against my religious beliefs. She kept asking aloud, "did you read the books"? I've been on disability for past 3 months for panic attacks. She made me so nervous I can't go back to work, I'm on meds!

Sorry I didn't have enough room to finish. When I did tell her the conversations made me uncomfortable she then made my work life unbearable. She picked on every little thing I did until I couldn't take it anymore. She said that I had a family to support and I'd better watch myself. I'm the only guy in the office and when I received several e-mails concerning male sexual stereotypes she said "oh, well that's what happens when you're the only man in an all female office." This may sound "weak" to some of you but this atmosphere at my job mentally wore me down and I can't go back there to work. I'm on an anti-depressant and an anti-anxiety med. Do I have any legal recourse? Please don't judge me, all I'm seeking is legal type opinions. Thank you all.

The workplace must be free of talks about religion because it is not the place for its discussion. Make a report of the incidents and submit these to the superior of your boss in order that appropriate action will be taken.

As someone who talks religion with anyone who will listen, it's hard to accept that some people can't handle conservations about religion.
That said, your boss shouldn't have these conversations with you, if you've made clear you're not interested.
Did you state clearly that you're not?
On a personal note - does this anxiety arise because you are too smart to believe in such medieval nonsense and the anxiety is about not allowing real thought to occur?

That sucks man. I dealt with something similar. It didn't affect me the same way as it affected you, but I was hella annoyed and went to her boss. She went as far as to send me a X-Mas card to my home address basically telling me I was heading straight to hell because my beliefs weren't the same as hers! It seems there should be some sort of legal recourse for you, but I am not a lawyer.

Go above her head or to the labor law board and complain. Or simply tell her to stop discussing religion at work and to keep all discussions with you work related.

Sounds like she needs to be strongly reprimanded by her superior.
