It seems like it would be filled with a lot of excitement, and of course many opportunities that most of us don't experience in our lifetime, but in the long run do you think it brings nearly as much fulfillment and peace a lot of people seem to believe it would?

No, not at all. It would probably be sad knowing so definitively that you're completely misunderstood. You would see everyday how you're a 'commercial product' and that no one knows the 'real' you.

Statistic show that as far as financial wealth is concerned, the wealthy are happier than the poor because they have less worry to pay bills. But ONLY to a certain point. The super wealthy are no happier than the wealthy.
As a matter of fact winning lotto has ruined many lives for various reasons.
Being famous? Only temporary satisfaction, but not true fulfillment. Often they get depressed because they are so insecure within themselves to begin with, and deal w/much falsehood, feeling like a product, and a LOT of illusions due to all the phoney balonies out there in show biz or what have you.
And rock stars feel the emptiness most of all. All the fame and glamour may be exciting in the beginning, but that is shortly lived out. They get burned out, most get addicted to drugs, sex, ect. Later see it for what it is, A BUSINESS. If they don't die before that, they are fortunate to wake up to REAL LIFE, and finally finding happiness, but only after a loooooooong road of lessons, loneliness, working through that business of dissillusions
Me personally? I'd prefer my privacy, seeking fulfillment on my spiritual path and learning about what it is that life is REALLY about.
There's many other things to be happy about in this world.
Fame and fortune is NOT the answer sweetheart.

No... fame and fortune become a burden over a period of time.... the real happiness comes from just two sources.... one is knowledge, there is a strange sense of fulfillment on learning anything new... the other is relationships that touch our heart. These two factors can also be defined as truth and love in a broader sense.

Look at some of our "Hero's"....the Hollywood actors who've captured our hearts...Or the sports hero's who get paid millions of dollars to put a ball in a hoop...which by the way a monkey could do for bananas...These people have all the fame and fortune they can handle...so tell me, why do they get busted for drugs?...Why are their divorce rates more than the average person? Why do they lead such reckless lives and are seemingly unhappy?....Money won't make you happy. Fame won't make you happy...Living a good, clean, 'moral' life will bring you happiness, even when you are poor!

Well there will be many definitions of Real Happiness. But to some extent the fame and fortune does bring happiness.

It seems to me it would matter what the cost of the fame and fortune was...and, dont assume fame and fortune go hand in hand......Henry Fiord and Abraham Lincold both declared bankruptcy and few people know Ingvar Kamprad is the 4th richest man in the world....main thing is you have integrity and hold true to your beielfs whatever they may be....that will bring you happiness..

i do not believe fame and fortune bring any kind of happiness or fulfillment.
infact it could be just the opposite, because people know who you are, would be watching you...then there is the press...godbless the press.
i'd wind up having a grand coniption over the press.

Not really. Cos people will want to know you as a celebrity, not as who you are. Then you won't really know who your true friends are. Also, your personal life gets exposed to the public and you will not be able to do things without the scrutiny of the media. You will feel stressed as you have to live up to the public image.

Statistics have shown that the wealthy are happier. I have found that it is not necessarily wealth that brings it. All we really need is financial security. That is possible depending on your level of needs and wants.
