I understand what you said, but I'm not as deep of a thinker as you are. I'll do my best. First, because God is holy and cannot tolerate anything less He first created the law to teach men how to please Him, and since men couldn't follow the law anyway, He sent Jesus Christ to pay the price for all of our sins once and for all. I think man pursues a Godless universe because God requires commitment from us, and he requires morality and integrity. Some people don't want to live like that. If we acknowledge that we have a reponsibility to God, then we must acknowledge that we need Him, that we have made mistakes, that we were wrong, and that we can't change without God. Some people don't want to live like that either. This basic theme of good/evil, right/wrong, God/Satan has been played out over and over again since the beginning of time, and it won't end until the world ends.

According to all that human culture interreprets about God, God is holy and executes perfect justice but are we able to recognize that perfection? People are not doomed, meaning if they do nothing they are just put into the cosmic trash can. People have the ability to make choices and the great prophets of our different human religions have given us God's laws in ways that we can understand them. God tolerates many things or we would have been extinguished millions of years ago. I think we are suppose to make the effort to learn, to strive for better. We have the chance to develope or own relationship with God. But we have to make the effort and do the work.

First of all, being holy doesn't mean being forced to perform any acts, just or not.
Second, we ARE all doomed. Everybody dies, even Jesus.
Third, what makes you think that being perfect means no tolerance for imperfection? Creation is in continuous process, (any physicist can tell you that) and this temporary imperfection is just another step on the route to perfection.
Fourth, I am certainly not in pursuit of a Godless universe. I don't mind being accountable to God, in spite of my mistakes. It's the judgement of People that I have no trust in.
Fifth, people who are eager to deny responsibility to anybody, God included, feel guilty and unworthy of forgiveness. But once you know for certain that God does exist, you can come to the realization that he isn't "out to get you". God's judgement comes in the form of natural law. You break the rules, you suffer the consequences. Jump off a cliff, expect broken bones. Eat mysterious berries, get a tummy ache. Sleep with your friend's spouse, accept the shotgun blast. Build your house next to a volcano, expect lava for dinner.
If conditions are not yet perfect, it's because God gives us the responsibility to do something about it. It's not God's fault you're too dumb to know volcanoes are dangerous.

People of these times are curious by nature. Every time they encounter something new or unexplainable, they look at science for answers. Why? Because so far, a lot of old unexplainables have been answered by science, which is a possibility that people are now leaning to science rather than religion. There are also instances when (not so) religious people encounter certain events in their lives such as the tragic loss of a loved one, they blame God and soon turn away from Him. There are also other instances that instead of turning away, they move to another religion to find the answers that they want.

I think the main reason that people do not really take responsibility for their own salvation through Jesus Christ is because they might be terrified of loosing themselves and changing. You can remain the same person and slowly become who God intended you to be as a believer. If they choose to believe it is a choice with a price to pay with their old lives as non believers. Being born again is just that, a new begining as a new creation. I pray that God gives me a way to get the truth out there to all who will hear and give heed to who God is and what He desires us all to have, Eternal Life. Jesus died on the cross for all sin. None would have been able to enter the gates of heaven if it weren't for His sacrifice. Jesus is the only one who lived on earth and was perfect while here, and that is the same reason He was the only one who could pay the price of our salvation with His blood.

But did you ever think about what is going to happen when you die and find out there is no God and you can not tell anyone, and think of all the things you did to prepare for the life hereafter and there is none. But then all that may not be possible. I am not saying there is not a God, But what if there is not one. "HAPPY DREAMS" thinker.

because they're so busy with their own lives that they can't find time to find out whether God exists or not. It's a really slow process.

READ JOHN CHAPTER 3 VERSE 16. YOU ARE PLACING LIMITS ON A LIMITLESS GOD. THROUGH THE BIRTH, DEATH, AND RESURRECTION OF HIS SON HE MADE A WAY TO ALLOW US TO BE FORGIVEN OUR SINS(BASE NATURE). ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS ACCEPT IT. WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING TO DESERVE IT. IT IS A FREELY GIVEN GIFT. ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS ACCEPT IT.
