I would like to be a judge for the state of California but from there i would like to perhaps get involved in national affairs and international affairs.

You need to go to college, then to law school, then pass the California Bar exam. Once you have done that, you work as a lawyer for a considerable length of time (20, 30 years), and both do a great job and get networked into the legal community so that you will be appointed as a judge.

First you have to become a lawyer. Then you have to be outstanding so that you will be appointed to the bench.
