I have been taking Optinate Prenatal Vitamins (which comes with 250 DHA capsule) for about two weeks now.

But this brand doesn’t contain Vitamin A. Should I be concerned?

Has anyone else been in the same situation?

Most prenatal pills do have some vitamin A in them.
Can buy over the counter prenatal pills, but they are only deficient in amount of folic acid (1 mg dose must be written by a doctor). I really dont think you have to worry that much but if you are concerned, go to the pharmacy and ask for OTC prenatal pills until you get to a doctor.

I have no informative idea about Vitamin A effects on your baby, but too much Vitamin A can have negative side effects since it's one of the fat-soluble vitamins that doesn't get flushed out of your system if you have too much. I recently had a Vitamin A "overdose" from taking extra vitamins and the skin on my fingers and toes began peeling off, unexplained. It would not stop, no matter how much lotion or creams I put on them, but no rash, no infection, no blisters, and yet the skin was peeling off at an alarming rate. I found out this was a potential symptom of too much A, and after stopping the vitamins, it completely went away in just a few days. Not sure if this would have anything to do with your prenatals lack of A, but it may be.

1000 mcg's of WHAT? You can have up to 4 mg of Folic Acid a day. I was taking 1 prenatal (which had 800 mcg of Folic acid) and 1 800 mcg Folic Acid a day..

Eat 2 large carrots every day. How many? dont know.
W.I.C. will know. They have all the health and nutrition reading material and more. They will be able to tell you how much of a food to eat every day. Your pregnancy diet will be monitored. You will be comfortably happy. W.I.C. is the best.
My vitamin has 50% vitamin "A" Got it from Walmart. GIANT bottle.
Good luck

To be honest, I didn't even take the pre-natal pills that my Dr. gave me a Rx for---Well, I took them for a little bit and then I realized they were doing more harm to me than good- So I asked my Dr. what else I could do, and she told me to take Flinstone's Vitamins. Much Much Better!

They don't put in Vitamin A because too much can be dangerous to the fetus. This is why women are now told not to eat liver while pregnant.

when I was pregnant with my son the pharmacist told me to just keep taking my regular multi vit and a folic acid pill. This time they are telling me to take a prenatal vit since the vit A could get too high with my regular diet. I was told it can cause birth defects.
