When a team gets an out any out and they throw it around the horn how come they end with the third baseman or the person starting the out throwing it back to the pitcher and never throwing it to the first baseman to throw it back tot he pitcher? even if the out is at first he throws it to second then to short then to third and back tot he pitcher but never back to first?????

Guess it's just superstition. When I was catching, and after a strikeout, we'd go 3b,2b,ss,1b, back to 3b, then the pitcher.

It keeps the infielders loose. The 1st baseman doesn't really get an opportunity to throw many people out, he gets the put outs on ground-outs, etc., so he would start it.

BTW, Around the Horn is started at 3rd and goes counter-clockwise (ie double-play...) not the other way around.

Just so everyone gets the ball during the play. The firsrt baseman would get the ball twice during the play if they threw it back to him. Not really sure why but thats my guess.
