Should keeping jobs in America trump only thinking of profit?

Should providing the people you wish to buy your product a source of income to do so be 'the way of it'?

It used to be the way.

I remember "MADE IN THE U.S.A." as something that Americans took pride in.

Funny how we are supposed to support those who don't support (literally--with the pay that will allow the purchase of shelter and food...) us!!?

If I say we shouldn't be in Iraq, I'm called "unpatriotic". But if an American company sends all of its manufacturing jobs overseas, it's perfectly all right...and our government does everything in its power to give them tax breaks and any imaginable help so that the CEOs can triple last year's profit....Can YOU see who it is that actually cares for Americans?

Things that make you go "HMMMMM"

The only allegiance a business owes to is the almighty dollar. Profit is what drives it; "patriotism" is merely a means of selling a product or service to help the bottom line.

However, it would make sense to do away with subsidies and tax exemption, under the guise of "economic development" incentives, in order to truly level the playing field in the marketplace.

In the meantime:
For those companies and corporations that currenty enjoy these perks, they should be mandated to keep a defined portion of their manufacturing operations and/or service centers here in the his country in order to maintain such government-funded perks. For those that send the bulk of their operations overseas, such perks need to be revoked.

I don't think many American businesses care anymore as long as they make a profit. It seems that only if they were in fear of losing their income would it make a difference. Also, many Americans don't seem to care that other Americans are losing their jobs. They can't seem to get the concept that if this keeps happening it will eventually affect themselves. America used to be a much better country.

They have noticed that the American people are getting fed up with all the foreign made goods.
Has anyone else noticed the "Made in" tags now say:

"Made in USA and imported" ! Do a yahoo shopping search on this phrase in quotes.

They are being allowed to put made in USA on the tag and advertisement when only some part or partial quantity is made here.

Let me put it this way. The last time Israel and Egypt went to war the American Oil companies cut off fuel oil to the U.S. Navy operating in the Mediterranean. It is widely believed that the Saudis intervened and told them shut down the flow of fuel.

a business doesnt owe anything to anyone except profits to the shareholders or the the owners...

its up to the consumer to purchase the product/service. You have the power to boycott...lets face it, how many people can live above the poverty line because they have outlet stores and places like walmart?

Businessmen those days believe in getting profits by spending few money. If moving to Antarctica meant more profits, they would say bye bye and move.

Absolutely. They want US troops to protect their interests. They also want US workers to build them up from scratch just to pay millions to their execs. So they owe a debt to the US in return.

Look at those who say that although US soldiers and US law protect these companies, they owe nothing in return.

edit: Petey, that would mean that all Americans who pay taxes owe nothing to the country. Does that sound right?
