In my opinion, NEVER!
Who put the bottle or pipe to their mouth.
It's like saying you didn't know a gun was loaded. You shouldn't handle a gun without knowing how to use it.

being drunk lessens your inhibitions and people are more apt to say things that they might think or feel but would never say when sober. this fact makes it harder to accept someone's apology when they say something hurtful when drunk. however, I have been in a situation when I was completely wasted and did not remember a thing from the night before. People told me that i said some hurtful things to one of my best friends - now I never would have said it sober and didn't even think that I had ever thought it when sober, but subconsciously i was angry at her. That doesn't excuse what i said and i was truely remorseful, but sometimes you have to take the situation according to the people involved and what actually was going on. now, this doesn't mean that people should blame all their actions on being drunk, but physically it can explain a few reasons behind why someone might say something they shouldn't have. so if someone knows that they say stupid **** when drunk, they shouldn't get that drunk again.

Yeah, it is a good excuse cause folks get drunk and say lots of stuff they don't mean. (Heck, some folks get mad and say stuff they don't mean.) This person doesn't need to get drunk anymore. Hopefully, he or she will stop before he or she actually DOES something he or she doesn't mean. Then there could be serious trouble. Words can cut like a knife, but actions speak even louder than words.
Forgive your friend and talk to him or her about the drinking and the terrible behavior. Get help for your friend if neeeded. If he or she won't stop the drinking and refuses help, start to distance yourself. No need to accept abuse from someone who doesn't even try to do better.

I totally agree. I think that the alcohol just makes the truth come out. Probably not the most tactful or polite way, but that's no excuse. And I wouldn't forgive someone who was a butt-head just because they were drunk or stoned at the time.

Well, the first time I got really drunk I walked though a screen door. I KNOW I wouldn't have done that if I was sober, so in cases where its your impaired motor skills that cause the problems, then yeah I think its a valid excuse (unless its driving, I think that's obviously a choice)

No. It is not a valid excuse for doing or saying something wrong.
However, if they ask for forgiveness, you should take it into heart. Drugs and alcohol can make people do and say things that are not what they really mean to do and say.
Be careful!
If you've been there, then you know.....

NO. A drunkard is irresponsible person and in such state is not a valid excuse for his wrong-doing, if any. Better for him or her to sleep until no more hang-over. I never "baby" a drunkard. He must take the risks while being in such situation. He better not drink if he gets drunk for the good of the environment.

personally
it doesn't matter how drunk or stoned the person is
the fact that they said it is SO rude.
it does come down to the person being irresponsible.
no offense to whoever the person is but when someone says something to me, i don't take "well i was drunk" as an excuse.
it's not like anyone is that much of an idiot to not have any control over their body. unless their words are slurred, they're falling over and can't string together a sentence, they know what they're saying.

Drinking and using are an excuse to some people. Those who have no morals or brains. Unfortunately I was one of those people. It took a lot of treatment and 12 step programs to teach me I was responsible for my actions not the drink.

YES ! it is a valid excuse for such questions as ...
Why did u puke all over the place ?
why are your eyes so red..
Its common to say " thats no excuse"....But it is the excuse...
Even the Bible says " when wine goes in , the truth comes out !
which teaches us: What a Drunkard says..is more close to his/.her real underlying feelings - cause when we are sober - we can use -self-restraint ' to avoid telling the truth about politically-inccorrect attitudes etc..
Being Drunk/Stoned causes a release of "inhibitions" which basically means......Things we "lie about in everyday life..will be told as 'truths' when we are under the influence.
whatever you're timid' about or afraid to admit .or things you hide within..
ALL reveal themselves while your drunk-stoned.!
PPL who have sex or act out sexually... have sexual hangups when sober.
PPl who sleep alot while drunk - have a underlying wish to be alone.
ppl who party and laugh alot - have a secret underlying desire to feel accepted..-maybe coz they were rejected as children -or abandoned by a parent. or lost a parent to death at an early age.
PPl who say racist -hateful mean remarks...tend to be exactly that - but with the ability to ""fake it and cover-it-up " when sober.

hell no it's not! I mean people use it all the time.. but that's why people do what they do when they are in a different state of mind.. because they have that excuse... so in my opinion it's stupid... i have been completely stoned and drunk and have done some stupid stuff... but i knew what i was doing i just didn't care about it.. so yeah it's not valid..
