No, I don't believe people are forced into treatment against their will here in the States.
You have the right to refuse any health treatment that you do not want.
They would probably advise you to take the treatment, but if you don't want it, you don't have to do it.
I was actually told that by a health care professional.
I have a terrible fear of needles. I said "I really don't want to have you draw blood"
She said "Well, you have the right to refuse any medical treatment. It's you right as a patient."
Gilda Radner refused convential treatment and did ayurdevic treatments for her cancer.

No one can be forced against their will to have medical treatment in the United States. Since I'm American, I'm not familiar with medical law in Canada. Most doctors would probably object to a patient using an alternative treatment if they could be helped by standard chemo or radiation, however, since there is no alternative treatment that has been shown to be effective against cancer.

I have never heard of someone being forced to take chemo or radiation. I have heard of insurance companies refusing to pay for it because the success rate was low or it was considered experimental for the type of cancer.
How can anyone force you to pursue any certain medical treatment? It is your body and your choice. Medical treatment is available, not mandatory. Although, I hear that John Edwards health care plan will make annual exams mandatory.

i'm particular all and sundry asks that. In my case, the primary tumor replaced into the only one they ever discovered and that they BELIEVED they had have been given all of it, yet they wanted to offer me 0.5 a 12 months of chemo basically to be secure. by way of fact i replaced into underage on the time and each thing replaced into occurring so speedy, I by no potential truly had a decision. i'm uncertain if i might have took a wager and refused.... If a individual replaced into terminal then many human beings choose for to no longer. they're existence is shorter then, yet some say the first of existence is extra useful. you additionally can refuse once you're over 18 or legally an person. The maximum cancers might kill you after sufficient time.

You have a right to refuse any and all medications. The medical staff will simply make you aware of consequences. But, remember, they don't know everything. They just don't want to be held liable for any negative results. They may also give you a hard time about pain medication if you aren't going the conventional route. Even if you do go the conventional route, they will could give you problems with pain medication.

They can't be "forced" to receive treatment. Going into this question I thought it would have something to do with health insurance. If that was the case then I don't think they would cover "alternative" treatments, so the person would then have little other choice.

I have not heard of being forced into treatment. As far as I know even if you are in the hospital you can leave AMA (against medical advice).

You can't be forced to use chemo or radiation. If you want to use natural alternatives your insurance just wouldn't cover it.
