My baby was sitting up well at 5 months. Thats when I started putting him in shopping cart seats. I did go out and buy a shopping cart cover though so he doesn't chew all over the handle. That grosses me out when I see kids chewing on the handles. Shopping carts have more germs then a toilet seat.

I put my little girl in one about the time she was 9 months old. If the baby has good neck and back strength, they can roll over sit up maybe even crawl then I would say yes you could move him to the front seat of the shopping cart.

I put my son in the shopping cart around 9 to 10 months. I think as long as the baby can fully support themselves & sit up easily then it would be safe. Just be sure to buckle him in & I always wipe the handles etc. down with wipes first or you can buy special shopping cart seat covers. My son would always try to bite the handle so I wished I'd bought one.

I have an 8 month old god-daughter.
We put her in the front seat of the buggy.
However, we put down something called a "floppy seat" first. This way, it protects the germs from getting on her. It's really cool, there are strings to attach toys from and she really likes it.
Really, when they start sitting up, and can balance for the most part, it's fine.

A lot of he major grocery stores now have a container of sanitizing wipes near the doors so parents can wipe the carts down. I put my son in it around 10 months. At Walmart you can get a bottle of sanitizing spray for less than $1. I had about 10 of them because my son was a preemie and I wanted to eliminate as many germs as possible in his first year.

Oh of course he can! by ten months a baby can sit up well without toppling over. That's when I put my baby in the shopping seat, at about 7 months when she could sit up without toppling over for sure.

I think it depends on your baby's weight! My baby is 9 months and he sits in the front of the cart. I'm confident that he'll hold his-self up because he's 28lbs ! If he wasn't , I would be a little skeptical! Try it for a short distance, and around as few people possible see !

He is probably ready. When they can sit up on their own and hold their head up without tipping over all the time. The age is different for every child.

Just as long as he can sit up and not chew on the cart handle. It should be ok for him to ride in the basket.
