It left them to do the job themselves and cost them all the anguish and expense of the Cold War and Korea and Vietnam. And yet the accepted version of history puts them in the right. When will the truth be told?

Oh yes, it was wise. Germany and Japan were a much more immediate threat than communists.

The US and UK signed treaties to ally with the Soviet Union which said there would be no peace with the Germans unless they surrendered unconditionally to all three countries at once. If they had broken that treaty, the Soviets would have been justified in attacking American and British for collaborating with the Germans against them.

The Soviets and the Japanese were not at war until a few days AFTER the bombing of Hiroshima, so your argument about Korea and Vietnam is not correct.

You assume that we would be better off in a world controlled by Nazi Germany. If we had stood by and let Nazi Germany conquer Russia and the Middle East and Japan conquer China and Indonesia, I hesitate to think the shape that the world would be in today. It seems like stopping the Holocaust does not rate highly in your book either.

It also ignores the simple fact that we did not choose to get involved in World War II. We were attacked by the Axix first.

As economy grows and welfare increases communism will collapse.US intervention was unnecessary. When man has got adequate money and wealth ,he will demand for freedom.See in USSR communism collapsed. In China communists are more liberal. In India communists are supporting a capitalist Congress Govt!US should have waited some time before they ventured in to vietnam etc.

You have your facts somewhat mixed up. America didn't go to war with Japan and Germany to stop Communism. We went to war because the Japanese attacked us and decimated our Pacific fleet and killed thousands of Americans. Communism wasn't even a factor here. We went to war with Germany because Germany declared war on us....did you know that? We fought with the Germans (with the Russians on our side) because of their fascist principles.
Although we didn't love the Russians they helped win the war and save many thousands of American lives. The age of Communism came later when Russia decided to advance its principles of Communism around the world.
