Is liquidated the correct word for ending a govt agency's existance?

Yes I understand that countries need to have information about the world and there is a legitimate need. But there are countries that don't have anything like the American CIA and they somehow survive and some even do well.

The CIA is the clearing house of all national intelligence.
They compile all the information from all intelligence agencies.
There would be no reason to eliminate or "liquidate" them unless you would want our country to be completely blind to any covert or overt activities against the United States anywhere in the world.
The people that work there have family and kids just like you and me. They are ordinary Americans.
They work to keep us safe. It would be similar to eliminating the Fire Department.
This question shows how little people know about the CIA, because of the necessary secrecy.

If Al Queda is not a creation of the CIA, then the agency is our last hope against terrorism. A sorry statement I agree, but when backed into a corner you fight an animal with an animal.

The CIA's history is one of incompetence and failure. They have caused all kinds of problems throughout the world.
