I am a poor college student, and I will shop at a local, privately-owned IGA instead of shopping at Wal-Mart, because I dislike the way that Wal-Mart runs its business.

I shop there but dislike what it has done to small business owners. Since walmart can come into towns and undercut the "little" people, they go out of business and lose their livelihoods. Also in a town here while back tried to fight getting a walmart in their town and walmart was declaring the government's usage of imminent domain to say that there was a NEED for walmart even though this small town had small businesses to supply their needs and they were happy. I have lost touch with the story, however just knowing that makes me sick. It was a good idea at first but has gotten out of hand, and like mcdonalds has become an icon of the way businesses should be run-mcdonaldization(sociology), I wish I could boycott walmart, but sadly I cannot, and target, k-mart, etc are all the same, sticking it to the customers and making small businesses pay the big price.

I hate it and miss the old places like Ames, Caldor and Bradlees. Even more so I miss the small independent department stores that every town used to have. The service you'd get in those places was much better than at Wal Mart.

Not shopping at Wal-Mart is like kicking a crack addiction? lol Lots of folks talk the talk but dang it - run into Wal-Mart "just this once" because ......fill in the blank.

It bothers me that I often support the best earning colony China has ever had - but gosh, its so easy. Like saying "tommorrow, yeah, tommorrow I'll walk away from the crack."

Mike, a woman I know got fired from walmart. She said one of the suppliers kept hitting on her and she wouldn't go out with him. So she got fired. Don't know if it is true or not.

They are BAD BAD BAD--they are not as clean as Target stores, and they fire people on customer complaints no matter what the employee says, because THE CUSTOMER NEVER LIES. (anyone else have examples of that, like what happened to someone close to me?)

Best thing ever, especially for middle class America. Most people who don't like it don't have to shop there, go figure.
