I am planning to purchase a plant for my office. I need something that is not hard to keep alive and one that also doesn't need much light. Any ideas?

If you're looking for a taller plant I would recommend a corn plant. They look nice because they usualy have branchings at various levels and striping on the leaves.

If you want a smaller plant the Pothos is a good choice. The leaves always look nice and fresh because they are multi-colored. You can let it grow long if you want it to hand or cut it every so often if you want it to be more compact.

Here's some pictures as well as others to consider:

Hope this helps.

u can purchase any plant which is indoor type. all indoor type plants are easy to maintain and needs very little sun light. u can keep it in a place where u get some sun light during the day time. money plant is very good looking and easy to maintain. u must select bringhtest place for it in yr office. too much sun light also damages indoor plants so be careful also.

A nicer alternative to a Philodendron is the peace lily (Spathiphyllum). Some of the species require barely any light. In a study by Nasa, it was confirmed that It is one of the best plants to remove toxins from the air (such as formaldehyde, benzene, etc).

I have started using silk plants for my offices. The reason? Wasted time watering and attending to plants costs me a lot over a years time and silk plants can look just as good.

Here's a website dedicated to office plants--I've never bought from this website but a lot of the plants mentioned I've seen in offices and can usually be purchased at local home and garden centers depending on your area.

A Philodendron. It's like an Ivy. They do well in offices and those lights are only on during business hours. They THRIVE on flourescent light like that.

Pothos. Beautiful, variegated leaves and trailing vines. Like ivy, but much more interesting. Very hardy, fast growing and a very forgiving plant.
