Janet-Tuesday gave you a way to find all the "hobby" stores in the San Jose area (those deal mostly with making models --trains, airplanes, dioramas, kits, etc.), but there are also "craft" stores which sell other types of supplies -- plus, some hobby stores are ALSO craft stores.
So in San Jose, also check out Michaels, Joanns, and Beverlys if you want "craft" stores in particular.

There are several Michael's stores in San Jose: 1444 Kooser Rd and 2040 Tully Rd.
Knowing the specific hobby would help get better results. :-)

Look up JoAnn on internet. Look for store locations. They have stores all over the US
