Cutler had over 300 yards and led the Broncos to a last second come-from-behind win against Buffalo. Last year, Cutler played pretty good, but he didn't make the plays he needed to make when the game was on the line. This week, he has done that and has led the Broncos to a comeback in the 4th quarter.
Cutler appears to be the best Denver QB since Elway, but that isn't saying all that much (Denver's QBs in the interim were journeymen Brian Griese and Jake Plummer) and it certainly appears that he is close to establishing himself as a quality QB and coming out of the shadow of Matt Leinart and Vince Young. Has he reached that level yet? Should we expect to see him regress or continue his excellent performance in the weeks to come?

I'm actually not a Broncos fan, but I recognize that greatness from a QB involves keeping your team in games and winning when you have to. That's why Steve McNair is a great QB despite not having great stats (and why Troy Aikman and Terry Bradshaw were great), but why QBs with great stats such as Drew Bledsoe and Kurt Warner are not. Elway's greatness was because of the way he led Denver back in the 4th quarter, not because of his stats (which actually weren't that exceptional). The same was true about Joe Montana and nearly every other great QB. It doesn't matter how you win, just that you win (Cutler had great stats last year, but lost a bunch of close games).
Another QB that really looked great this week was Tony Romo of the Cowboys. He had 5 TDs and led Dallas to a win in a shootout.

Cutler had the highest QB rating of the three rookie QBs taken in last years first round, so today didn't surprise me. He is a big reason why I see the Broncos going far into the playoffs. He is already a better passer than Plummer and will only get better. I think he has a good demeanor and will have a couple more 4th comebacks this year. I think in the end he will prove to be better than both Young and Leinart.
And how can you say he struggled today? He average nearly 8 yards a pass and was his best in the 4th quarter. That last drive he was in a few 3rd and longs and moved the chains everytime.
DB: You expect a lot from your second year QBs. I think he did quite well in only his 6th career start. He didn't make a lot of mistake, kept his team in the game, and played his best when he had. He struggled a lot less than Vince Young or Matt Leinart.

If the Broncos go far this year, it will be because of their running game, just like it was when TD was carrying the load. Elway couldn't do it himself and Cutler won't either. He can make every throw but his footwork is nothing to be amazed at (the 2pt conversion throw would have been good had he not thrown off his back foot) however, he led the team when he needed to and got the win. But when it gets cold up in Denver, the load will be on Henry

Cutler had some great throws and signs of big time improvement, he also had some plummer like moments, which was not good to see. But I think with steady improvement and the continued running of Travis henry the Broncos could have their best season in a long time.

Don't expect him too throw for 300 yards every week, but he did appear a lot more comfortable with the offense today than last year. I think that most football fans expect Cutler to be very good whether they are Broncos' fans or not.
Expect ups and down, but overall growth, as the season continues.

Yes. He took over and led his team to a come from behind victory by engineering an excellent DRIVE at the end of the game. Looked like Elway when he was leading the drive as well. Should be a star in the league for years. Also I think he can continue to get better.

How are Denver fans coming to this conclusion?! Jay Cutler struggled the entire game and in the 4th quarter barely converts a 4th and 2 and gets into field goal range by the skin of his teeth and he's the next John Elway? No offense but who are you trying to convince here, me or yourself?
bpmcwalters: How can I say he struggled? Well how about the fact that Denver was playing from behind the entire game because their quarterback couldn't get it done on 3rd down. I don't know about you but I'll take a quarterback who gets touchdowns over one who gets field goals any day.

I think that Jay Cutler was the best quarterback in the 2006 NFL Draft but because his Ala mater, Vanderbilt, was not as well known as USC and Texas, he was overshadowed. He's got all the tools, let's be honest. He's quick on his feet, and he's got a strong arm...and that arm is also accurate.
What you saw this week was just a glimpse of his calm demeanor but this is the NFL and they will adjust to him. He's got to be able to make adjustments to them and stay ahead. The best is yet to come from this guy. I'm not going to call him a kid because he is well advanced than Young and Leinart.

First of all, let's not get carried away with the phrase "excellent performance" in regards to Jay Cutler.
"Good" performance, maybe . . . excellent? No
I expect him to improve as time goes on, but he really has to stop making the stupid plays (interceptions and what was that lateral?) that hurt the team. He needs to learn when to throw the ball away and not try to make something out of nothing (glad McGee dropped what could have been another interception).
I hope he does it and does it soon - go Broncos!

How is this a good stats, 23-39, 304 yards, 1TD 1INT. Let me break this down, it's look like a 56% completion rate and a QB rating of 81.6. I don't think this is great stats for a QB, 56% completion rate not gonna cut it in any league. But the Broncos win, and that what it's count.

do no longer do it. in case you commerce away McFadden, you will lose a lot of intensity. Cutler and Eli could have comparable numbers with the aid of the tip of the season and TE's are valueless on your league till their call is Dallas Clark or Antonio Gates. Plus, i think of McFadden could desire to be beginning over Crabtree. you besides could could desire to evaluate that Stephen Jackson won't initiate this week.
