do any of you actually believe this? I think this is complete bull$#!T because as far as I know, what didnt kill you but almost did, only makes you weaker.
seriously, from what I know, injuries only make you weaker. so why do they say that "what doesnt kill me only makes me stronger"? anybody else see what I mean?

Survival builds confidence. That's pretty much it. Only someone who's survived something incredible can think to themselves, Hey, I got through that. This is nothing.
Make sense?

Well I think thats true...Its like running 4 miles...Its REALLY hard but people do it. If you keep doing it you'll be stronger and in no time guess what? Those 4 miles are a breeze! Even after one time of doing the 4 miles you will be stronger because You'll be more confident and know that you can do anything you set your mind to. Its not just physically stronger but mentally as well. Makes you more confident.

Injuries make you weaker physically, yes, but as you recover you have now learned a great deal and strengthened your knowledge about how it happened, what to do for it, and that you possibly gained some confidence that you survived.
Of course, some people let serious injury to body or soul destroy them, so it is not a hard and fast rule.

I have little choice than to believe that all the things that have happened to me during my life have only made me stronger. And if there were some mathematical ratio based upon life challenges, I'd probably end up being one of the 5 strongest women in my region.

it really depends on the situation. and sometimes, when you're physically incapable of doing things that would be considered the norm of our society, you sharpen your mental abilities. i think the only time the rule doesn't apply is when you're rendered completely hopeless (death or approaching it for sure). but there have been countless instances wherein a victim of a near-death experiences turns out to be a 'renewed person' in their sense of the word. experiencing a nearly fatal car crash but having come out of it unscathed could give a person a renewed sense of life. it could the one thing they needed to turn their lives around. so yeah, sometimes it's unbelievable, but for the most part, you can apply it to those who really change or either have a strong character or develop one.

I do see what you mean but in the end...ya know the BIg picture..every hit you take gives you experience....see? It makes you stronger because you learned something to maybe keep yourself from doing that again.....sort of after you heal....

I thought it was "what norishes me destroys me"? I guess this is a different one. I don't know that one, but the nourish one, I totally agree with. What makes you good, makes you want it more, and you can be so wrapped up in it, that it can make you lose loved ones, your overall health, a lot of things.
