For all we or anyone knows Our Big Bang may not of been the first big bang. There could of been multiple Big Bangs and Multiple big Crunches (The universe gets so big it collapses in on its self eventually leading to another big bang...and so forth.) So time could go forward or back Trillions of Years.

Because at the point of Big bang, the mathematics reaches singularity, it is not possible for scientists as of now to mathematically examine anything before that point in time based on the Big-bang formula. However when that singularity is reached, all dimensions are zero which includes time dimension as well, because the formula is a space-time formula. Therefore they claim that space and time were created by Big-bang.
However, I would agree with you that it is really impossible for us to imagine that there can be any limits to the time dimension, that it can begin at a time and end at another time... no, our mind does not seem to have that capacity to imagine any timeless state.... we are so sure of changes happening all the time (remember, time is defined by change.. if there is no change, there would be no time) that even when we see no change happening, we say that time has stood still and believe this stillness of time is temporary.
Good question!! Hope, you will find some sense in my answer.

You are missing the real point.. time is a human creation.. there IS no time outside of what we section and label that we can see.. it's beyond our imagination even. I dont think anything at all is linear, I think linear is also a human creation.. I think there is no beginning and no end. If there was any big bang, it was merely a small disturbance in something much larger than we can even fathom. What is important to realize is that the beginning of this planet was a small and irrelevant occurence.. part of a much larger whole that has always been and always will be. We as humans think life is linear... one beginning, one end for all alike. I dont think that at all! What I think is that we are just another continuation in a neverending cycle of life, death and rebirth(not in the technical sense, more like abstract) anyway what I am saying is that I dont disagree with any idea about the "beginning" I dont know for sure.. all I have are my beliefs and my personal convictions.. intuition even if you will. It tells me that we had some kind of beginning, but what that was is really irrelevant.. just a curiosity.. beacuse there IS no such thing as a real beginning or ending its all one and the same.. what really matters is that we are.

okay, hi... My theory is that our spirits created the universe and therefore, time. I still haven't formed this idea in my head as a fact to myself..... So it isn't proven..... At least I don't think so.
So, think as if you were me..... If time exists now how did it begin? There are two ways to decide how time started in the view that it was scientific or spiritual. Obviously, there must have been some other force to create the universe. My belief is that a spirit (soul) never dies and always has lived and that we (as spirits, not as a body or brain) decided to create the universe (matter, energy, space and TIME). Not sure how though. (Don't get me wrong but there just had to have been some logical scientific involvement.)
This is just my opinion so don't just believe me.... See if it make sense to you....
Later,
Ky

I am not certain I have ever heard it proposed the "Big Bang" was the beginning of time...
In any event it is quite humurous to me to watch the supposed "brilliant among us" banter about all of these details as though they are facts. It was not all that long ago that the "brilliant among us" told us all there was only the Milky Way. Not too long before that, Earth was flat. Not long before that, there were no other planets. And so on, and so on. Consider the big bang theorists have given us such significant variations for the age of the universe that the variations themselves prove they know not that which they speak of.
Regarding time: is time not change? The only measure of time is change. Therefore if we can stop change we can stop time. Likewise if we can accelerate change we can accelerate time.

That is because you are very intelligent. You are correct. According to the ancient Vedas, Time is eternal. Their is creation of these material Universes then at some time they become annihilated but that is not all in all. When they get annihilated, all go back into the gigantic form of Maha Vishnu (God) and then again after some time He creates again. But That is just the material world. the eternal kingdom is never created or annihilated. That is where the Christian religion is confused. The eternal world is eternal. There is a material heaven, hell and earth, that all get created and destroyed but the eternal heaven remains. It is all in the 1st canto of the Srimad Bhagavatam in great detail for info go to srimadbhagavatam.org/... Totally enlightening book you can read on line.

I don't think time started at the big bang but the universe started then. the big bang had to take time to become so condense with matter to have an enormous explosion so time did exist before the big bang.

It's your prerogative not to believe that theory! If the Universe ended right now why would anything still move... since it's ended???

You must have a superior brain!!!
The big bang theory is childish, a nonsense. Another smart person already put in this words:"... would be like to believe that the webster dictionary came to be from a big explosion in a printing shop".
