Yeah dude it happens to ALL optical mouses. There is nothing you can do. I have the same problem, and everyone else i know. You could upgrade to a Laser mouse (they r a bit more expensive), and you wont even have to deal with the skipping.

There are many possible causes: 1. the batteries are low in the mouse. The software and mouse may report the battery life incorrectly, so recharge or replace the batteries to find out if this is it. 2. The mouse's transmitter or other circuity is "burnt out" due to age or use. 3. The mouse receiver is 'burnt out" due to age or use. 4. any cables between the receiver and port are malfunctioning. 4. The USB port, or the USB chip on the motherboard, or the operating system are not functioning correctly, so the mouse signal is not being handled correctly.

Either change your batteries in your mouse or clean the laser lens with a Q tip. When the power gets low, your mouse will jump, and if there's debris on the lens it will happen as well.

Get a new mouse pad.
Unplug it and plug it back in.
Wipe off the mouse with a damp cloth.
If all this fails, get a new mouse.

If the surface that you are using the mouse on is Shiny or even slightly reflective, this could be the cause. if so use a mouse matt or some-other dull surface.

Try changing your mouse pad, or even using just a plain white piece of paper.

You're mouse is obviously gay. Get a new one. Be careful though, that might not be politically correct.
