You may not like to admit it, but certain races of people have certain behaviors, and in our country majority rules. We develop our stereotypes by observing certain groups of people behaving in simular ways. It doesn't just form out of thin air. So why do people deny that certain races act certain ways? Obviously there are exceptional people that don't fit the stereotype, but many do.

Prejudices.

If you say that people are different then you can conclude that they should be treated differently and that is the opening for racism.

Stereotypes do describe real people and in general they describe groups of people, but it is NOT in vogue to admit that.

When the TSA started screen passengers who were two of the people they targeted: a little old lady and a US Senator, then they could claim that they were not showing prejudice.

Ask any young black man who has ever been pulled over for driving a car in a white neighborhood or just because the police were interested in him and he will tell you that he was guilty of "driving while black." However, if you see a young black man behind the wheel of a fancy car then there is a very good chance that the car is stolen and the police will get an easy collar. It is sad but, true. However, it makes those innocent black people that get pulled over furious and fear the police.

You are ignoring the concept of Political Correctness, which is very much in vogue and rules society. it is not polite to use the "N word" and if I were to use it here I would be fined 10 points, yet black rap stars use it in their lyrics frequently. Where is the justice in that? There is no justice, only emotion. The rap stars use the word as a badge of honor denoting their race and the problems unique to that minority. It doesn't make a lot of sense from a practical view, but from a view of society it makes great sense. It is important to do foolish looking things sometimes for appearances sake.

When someone asks you "How are you feeling?" They don't want to know the truth, they don't want to know how you are feeling; they want to say high and be polite. Politeness seems like a waste of time, but it is the grease that keeps society running and sometimes simply acknowledging someone else's existence is a mark of respect. That respect is something that is important and many minorities feel that they don’t get enough of it. When a white male gives them that respect, even if it is just a nod of the head then it is, at least for me, and attempt to say “I know you have it rough, I know you are a person with as many rights as I have, here is an acknowledgement that you not only exist, but you have those rights.” That puts a lot into a small word like “Hello” or “good day,” but they hold a lot of value in society.

The problem is that race isn't what determines (or even influences) behavior. Behavior is caused/influenced by external or internal stimuli. If race was a determinant then every member of each race group would share the same behaviors. Can certain behaviors be common among certain races? Sure, but this is based upon other shared factors such as culture.

thats true, who cares if we are different, or if certain things are true about each race. I sure dont. I think its better than saying we are all the same. I mean there would be no individuality of people if everyone was the same, and some stereotypes werent true. I think people deny that certain races act certain ways just because they are afraid of people getting offended, but i personally, state the truth, and try not to offend people, but if it does, thats like me saying. i make 50 bucks a day, and she makes 10, and the girl getting offended. It is just life.awesome someone sides with me on this.

The "true patriot should definetly not answer Q's like this, because most whites get it and i get it, but i would rather not pretend about things. so true patriot is wrong"

Postalmen is wrong also, we are not confusing anything, we are just saying whats on our mind. no confusion, just our thoughts.

Chuck should shut up also. We are just taking some stereotypes not all. I mean what its obvious we arent saying all black people are slaves, or all white people are racist, we are just saying the things like what i gave as an example. I can honestly say, i dont care if there was slaves. That is not how it is now, so people should realize the truth, yes slavery is bad, but COME ON! so many years later it seems like i see whites get picked on by blacks more. It is just they way life works. deal with the Sh*t that comes too you. dont make a big deal, just shove to the side, and move on.

I have worked in public places for over 30 years. And you can't make me believe that every one in a certain race acts the same. You grow up watching tv where they do stereo type the players in a movie. Usually they make black people into pimps or drug dealers. But I know from being around so many different races of people that you can't do that. There is good and bad in every race, including white. I have been treated just as bad from a white person as I have from any other race, as well as I have been treated with respect and kindness from people in all races. Some people do act the way you would expect them to according to the way you believe them all to be according to their race. But not all. All races are not the same because of cultural differences. But that's not a bad thing. Each culture has its own good points as well as bad. We must learn to respect each others differences. But all races are the same under the skin. They all have red blood.

Well certain people called scientists and sociologists (you may have heard of them) beg to differ. Until you are published in an academic journal that I read I think I'll stick with what I learned.

And you don't have to study sociology to understand that race does not determine your behavior. A mixture of environmental factors combined with some genetic factors (but that is a psychologist's turf) are the determinants.

Some stereotypes/generalizations are rooted from ignorance and not completely true. Granted, there are stereotypes that ARE true and can't be ignored. Other people aim to embrace culture in a unified front and strive not to set people apart from others. It all depends.

Doesn't matter what they ACT like, they should have the same rights and be treated with respect no matter what color they are. The majority of whites don't "get" that.

Just because you're in the majority doesn't mean you are better than anyone else or that you deserve better treatment than those who are different from you because there are less of them than those of your race.

i think you are confusing race with culture. A black person raised only around white people will probably act more "white" than "black" like they say, if you know what i mean. A white person raised around Mexicans all their life might act Mexican and not "white", I've seen this too.

Really, it depends where that person of that nationality was brought up. I mean I find it highly unusual that Africans can have a English accent.(because they were brought up in London.) So their habits will be British, not African. It is called schooling and copying (which is what we all do from birth)
