It is simple for the simple, but it is really the only way for real happiness. First
We are not this material body, IE; Race, color, nationality, Religion, mind, intellect, senses, job, etc. We are all eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. We never die, only this mortal body dies.
This material world is not our real home, it is called Maya (illusion) and is temporary and full of misery, only one fourth of the souls come here, and the rest are enjoying blissful eternal loving relationships with our Maker named above. Those who are tired with this illusion and who are intelligent, take up the process of self realization (Bhakti Yoga) which begins with chanting the Maha Mantra (the great mantra for deliverance from all illusion and misery) and gives one real peace, happiness and reality. Then at the end of life they can return to the eternal Kingdom where there is no more birth, death, old age, or disease and be eternally happy. We can be happy hear by following this sublime process. I am so happy I found this or don't know how miserable I would be today. For info. Go to harekrishnatemple.com Read Bhagavad Gita- As it is by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada asitis.com you can read it on line.

Choose to do so.
It is really that simple.
I am doubtful there is any such thing as a "perfect life." Therefore each life must have flaws. Some are greater than others, and some will be more difficult to overcome. For some of us there are issues that presnt significant barriers to achieving true happiness. If you are a person who has physiolgical barriers to achieving happiness, those must be addressed. Without doing so it's like expecting to go somewhere without taking any steps to get there.
For most of us it is far simpler... Take the girl I saw in a fast food restaurant recently. She lost control and yelled at other people about how stressful her job was. it wasn't easy, they all thought it was so easy. Her job? Her only job was keeping fries cooking. What set her off? Someone, politely and calmly , asked when the fries would be up.
This may be an extreme and simple example, but I hope it illustrates the point: life is what you make of it. Choose to be happy, and you probably will be. Choose to stress over the fries and you probably won't be.

There are a million ways this can be answered. Some could say go buy more things, go date a new guy, both of which will give you happiness, but it will most likley be temporary.
The way I found serious happiness was through God. I just prayed to him one day when I was really upset and distressed and he made me so much better. He's ur best friend. Look up some things in the bible about happiness. Job 22:21 and 26 have some good things to say about happiness.
You can look them up on biblegateway.com

You really need some activity that really fuels your creativity. For example, playing guitar? Playing violin? You can't be happy with a boring life.
Then more importantly, to be happy one must attribute one's talents and gifts to God that way He just adds on more! You feel the love, the passion, and the endless joys of music! Acknowledging the Creator will create a joy in you. Believe me, I used to be quite unhappy when I used to be atheist/agnostic. I look at the sky and I think, how beautiful God is present with us. The other day, I saw outside my window rain and the warmest glow of sunshine simultaneously!! It was Saturday! I was so happy then because I knew God was saying, "Yes, life's situations can be bleak and unhappy, but there is warmth and joy of My LoVe to shower down on you!!!"

For me to be happy I just have to see my best friend. I actually love them, but they're with someone else, but seeing them, even when they're with their 'other half' makes me overjoyed.
They make me smile and laugh and happy, even when they're in a bad, no good mood I still am just happy to be around them.
What you need to do is find something like that. Something that you just can't stop smiling about. A pet, a movie, a book, artist...something...and go from there.

Start by doing the things you love/ enjoy.
Begin by doing simple things to put a smile on someone else's face like charity or helping out at the hospital, etc.
Always look for the positive, avoid being pessimistic.

I think you have to like who you are as a person.....and make good choices as often as you can.
You can't be 100% happy all the time.....but you can have joy in your life 100% of the time.....there is a difference.

You ask Tom about it he may say differently from what Dick says about happiness and Harry got a real kick by making other people feel like an asshole. When you ask Jane she will say I like 'ronggeng' 'coz it makes her see the 7th heaven.

Love yourself, and love God. Always remember, there is always going to be someone who doesn't like you (haters). Appreciate them, they make you stronger. Shake 'em off and keep going. Like TI said, " It's motivation". Don't worry about things you can't help. There's no use crying over spilled milk, just clean it up. SMILE AND LAUGH! You'll do fine!
