There is an Offensive, Defensive, and Special Teams Captain. There is NOT more then one on EITHER side of the ball, the second one would be the Special Teams captain. Short of giving that to the Kicker of course you have the chance they will be on Offense or Defense.

its a new thing this year, it is the captain on their respective side of the ball(offense, defense), sometimes more than one on a side
