I was mowing the grass in my yard and ran over a nest and got stung. My husband killed them out with gasoline. But, my kids play in the yard all the time so now I am scared they will accidentally disturb another nest, if not now, in the future. How do you prevent yellow jackets from making nests in your yard?

there is a lawn and garden spray that u can buy at your local home store, like lowes or home depot. all, u do is attach it to your hose and spray the lawn. i use it on my house because we have huge spiders. i have children and pets and i have never had problem with them getting sick, as long as you wait till its dry before you walk on it.

to the first poster....they are also called yellow jackets, they are all in the wasp family....geez!!!

The only thing you can do is inspect your bushes and house for them periodically. They are good at hiding their nests.

Water more often and when you do, flood the lawn. This is how we got rid of them. The grass liked the extra water.
