I am a college student who sometimes finds it hard to afford to pay for medical things I need (doctor visits, prescriptions, etc). It just makes me mad to see that people in prision who have often done some horrible things get all this world class medical care at no cost to them. Why should this happen when I've always tried to be a good person and they obviously haven't? A good example is from the movie Sicko when it is brought up that the terrorists in Guantanamo get numerous exams, mri's, and even surgery for free.

The prisoners in America and also in other countries get good free foods, drinks and medical care because they loose their freedom, while good, honest and poor people often go without it but they have freedom. So getting a freedom is very expensive.and all of us do not want losing our freedom and independence.

Well, welcome to the amazing world of health care. When you imprison someone, you make them totally dependent upon you. Prisoners don't get 'world-class' health care, but they are looked after. The choice is to either care for them or let them die, so you're left to figure out which would be best.

A better question is to examine the economics of the health care that our ordinary citizens get. Because there are now so many things that modern medicine can do for you, it has become very expensive, no matter who pays for it. But neither our economics nor our culture has kept up with the improved medical technology, so there doesn't seem to be any arrangement that works very well.

The solution is left as an exercise for the student. Good luck figuring it out, kid. It's your generation's task, now.

Because the prisoners, are exactly that. They are confined and over all these years, the prison system with the help of people who fight against cruel and in-humane treatment, have developed this type of care to prisoners. I am so Thankful, that our prison systems, do not mis-treat or make the prisoners suffer and go without. Jails and prisons years ago, were terrible. Same goes for the Mental Institutions. Life was so un-bearable, that the confined person died from many in-humane reasons. Why be mad ?? Be Thank-ful that our taxes are used for betterment. Mexican jails are cruel and in-humane. Hope you or yours never endure prison. Our Minister always told us , to pray for the prisoners. They suffer from long years of confinement. I suppose you would just give them bread and water, once a week. As you get older, you will understand.

I took my son to Emergency room and we had to wait till 3am
because before us a prisoner with 8 police men, my son had trouble breathing but he could wait, he was a child, so you tell
me how i felt? and now I pay every 2 months $1046 because my family dont want me be without insurance.
But prisoners can sue the government for lack of medical attention, but regular people cant, so what the goverment do?
give them attention

Really a good question. If anyone knows the answer, I am sure there are several million people in the United States that would like to hear it. Someone has to do something but don't know what.

Sicko is just a MOVIE. There is No such thing as FREE medicine even if the USA would socialize medicine. HEALTH CARE IS NOT A RIGHT. IF WE MAKE HEALTH CARE FREE, THEN FOOD SHOULD BE FREE. GAS SHOULD BE FREE. Education should be free. Then we have communism.... Having kids should be free. Prisoners are owned by the government. That is why they get health care. Nothing more or less. Do you want to be owned by the government?????????? That is all. Remember Michael Moore made alot of $$$$from that picture. If he was tobe owned by the government then he would not have the freedom to make $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ GET IT????

Good question. They also get to eat jelly out of a lifer's butt crack for ten years so I guess that sort of makes up for my high cost of medical care.
