Do the English in general hate Tom Cruise? Doubtful. Some do, some don't...it is the same in the United States. Althought "hate" is a strong word for someone they've never met. Dislike would be closer to their feelings. My personal feelings would be described as indifferent.

Generalisation is not wise. Tom Cruise is not liked by many people including many Americans and many British.

1. he's not a very good actor.
2. every movie he's in turns into the tom cruise show, it seems to be about him rather than the story.

i gave up after mission impossible. when i see his name on a movie i avoid it like the plague.

The same reason everyone else does? He's a non talented ham always braying about his cult, Scientology.

To think of this wooden two-bit actor having the nerve to play the great Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg is sickening.

Same reason a lot of Americans do. He is a midget weirdo who preaches a made up religion. Behaves a little odd at times and just gets under the skin.

Guessing here but maybe because of:

Brooke Sheilds - He made light of her post-natal depression, his attitude was something like "suck it up" and take it like a man drugs aren't necessary.

Pretty much that did it.
