I shouldn't be doing this, since I do not like to help with homework, but since I am taking a course called Colonial Latin America, I guess I could help a little.

The Mayan were already declined by this time. They had already been past their height in culture and size. In fact, it wasn't really an empire by this time. The Spanish bypassed them to conquer the Aztecs first. One Spaniard, Geronimo de Aguilar, had been with the Maya after he was shipwrecked on the Yucatan. He was there for 7 years until he was picked up by Cortes and helped Cortes against the Aztec.

After the Aztec were conquered, one of Cortes's captains, don Francisco de Montejo would eventually go to the Yucatan, but it would take years to conquer this area. They started in 1526 and it took until 1546 to finish the conquest.

I suggest you finish this story yourself and fill in the blanks.

Imply a plane crash by either, throwing a plane over a hill and let it fall behind the hill, no crash scene needed. Or get in a position that you can film a real plane that you will lose sight of over a hill, and edit in smoke coming from it as it leaves your view. Next shot, is the aftermath. Native to the locale instrumental might be nice.

The Spanish taking over was like the Europeans taking over the Americas. Their society was greatly affected. Many died because of diseases brought in by the Spanish, many were killed and punished, their beliefs were shunned...

The Spanish basically erased their whole culture, and tried to input their own.
