What and why are you asking this? Could be both in my opinion. If you have a large tax bill you are paying a lot of tax, and if you worked in a lot of different states during the years, you would have to file and pay a lot of taxes.

Well in my opinion... a lot of taxes...especially the one that comes out of your pay check.

Could be either. If you were talking about the amount of federal tax withheld, it could be they withheld a lot of tax on my income. If you were talking about all the types it could be there are a lot of taxes withheld from my check.
