Question Details: So we bought the heated floor system at the Home Depot..the one where you roll it out..its like a matt and comes with a thermostat. While looking at it, this guy was standing beside me and said are you buying that. I told him I was thinking about it for under our floor tiles in the kitchen. He said his bill went up by $150 per month and he only has abit in his bathroom which is on for 1 hr each morning! He also showed me the box says it uses as much energy as a lightbulb or 2 and he says maybe this is false advertising because it made his bill go up so high. I asked a worker after at the store and they said there is no way that could have happened. What do you think? Do you know anyone that had or has this? I bought it anyways and am abit nervouse..I only bought the 8 foot one..just one box..Will It make my bill go skyhigh?

If the product was that energy consuming, it wouldn't be on the market long. The guy was mistaken or had some other reason to try to prevent you buying it.

Some folks find it necessary to bad-mouth everything. The guy probably saw it, didn't buy it because it was too expensive, then wished he had. I once had a guy poo-poo my idea, saying it couldn't be done, until my husband stopped me from trying it. Then the guy trotted home, used my idea in his house, then set himself up as an interior designer on the basis of my idea. And according to my sister, everything about me, up to and including the size and color of my nipples is an indication of my mental ability. Don't listen to crackpots and little, petty people.

I'm not familiar with this product, but from your description, I can't see the use of the product increasing your bill by that much. I think that the person who spoke to you was mistaken. I would not be nervous about using the product.
