... you were to put Friedrich Nietzsche, Ayn Rand and Anton LaVey all in the same room? What conversations would stir? Would arguments ensue? Utterly uncomfortable silences, maybe?

I guess what I'm asking is, do you think these three have clear distinctions in their philosophies, or are they just historical figures who've reiterated the same ideas of existentialism/objectivism/satanism?

I really think an uncomfortable silence would ensue, and that was a good choice to give us answerers. Because I think what each had in common was the blah blahs, the chatty cathy approach to publicizing themselves as philosophical.

I recognize it because I may have a couple tendencies that way myself, though I do try to think it all out first. I haven't even been able to think of a decent question, actualy!

EDIT:*** The two posters above seem right to me. I may also be overboard to compare "giants" to toys, and noisy ones at that, for they may not have been so. I just think they were.

Nietzsche and Rand I know. I'm not acquainted with LaVey. I couldn't imagine N. and R. having a civil conversation. R. would probably remind N. too much of his sister (not their racism but their domineering personalities) and there would only be silence in the room.

I think it would be impossible to predict what would happen given the fact that the three you mentioned may not have ever consented to meet in the first place. Conjecture about such things is an act in futility in my opinion.
