What do you think about what computers will be able to do someday compared to the human mind? For instances, do you think a computer can someday can........

1. Read a story and paraphrase it?
2. Have emotions?
3. Make decisions?
4. Understand language?
5. How about have a consciousness?

Do you think a computer can someday do these things or are these things that only the human mind can do..?

Minus 2 and 5 and you have a computer like computers that exist now that do what remains of the total. Living self reflection can only be accomplished in something that is actually biologically born of that substance, not silicon, boron, copper, plastic, glass and steel.

Yes. Emphatically yes! What will be accomplished in the next 100 years or the next 1,000 years will be spectacular. Even with all that has been accomplished in the last 100 years we haven't seen anything yet. Just as our accomplishments would boggle the mind of someone who died 100 years ago, so too will the accomplishments of the future boggle ours. I have no doubt that computers someday will accomplish feats now performed only by the human mind. No doubt it will require software and computers more advanced than we now have but I've no doubt these will be forthcoming.
