My budget is $500-$600. I want the best laptop for that price. I know the budget is on the low side but I have broke a sony vaio and it was expensive and i don't want to invest a lot of money on another laptop

I'm a 4th year college student

essential features I'd like:

light, easy to carry around
word, type
internet access
wireless
usb ports
fast

other features are important too, but i don't need something fancy

so please recommend the best I can get with the price range of $500-600

thank u!

You may not have a lot of choices in that price range, but your requirements are quite modest. A Question: Do you have the Office or Works CD from that last laptop? That software is expensive, and if you can reuse it, it will make your budget seem larger.

Tigerdirect has a $500 laptop.

or if that's too long a URL,

HP pavillion tx1000. It is designed for college users. It is a convertible laptop meaning it also has a touchscreen display in which u can also use ur finger or the stylus to jot down notes during laectures or wateevr. It is damn light. I was juz surprised. It weighs 1.7kg in which u can also take away the dvd drive so more lighter u see. It has fingerprint reader, webcam, lightscribe to etch cd labels onto the cd using laser so no ink. Got hp quick play so u don have to boot windows to listen music or watch movies in dvds. Has lots more. Definitely for college users and this is why i am recommending u this series. I have one and enjoy it. Go for it although it a little bit off from ur budget but it is definitely worth. Hp has qaulity customer service and 1 year warranty. Still now, mine have not even created a single issue. Juz go for it.

Well both the technology is going to be the best for you, I would say that you should go with Dell or Hp laptops. Both of these laptops are really superb and amazing as well.

Dell (small business) has a great deal now on its new line of Vostro laptops. I has all th features you want starting at $499.

I would get the AMD dual core mobile processor upgrade for $60 - it will run cooler and you will get longer battery life.
