both our names were on this paper stating if one of us passes the other takes over , what do i do now that my father has passed ?
do i need the death certificate and/or how do i go about getting my
title?

Take the paper with your agreement on it and your father's death certificate to the county recorder's office along with your ID. That should be sufficient. You should also see if your state has a re-assessment expemption so that you don't have to pay additional taxes due to the title transfer from parent to child.

also have the house appraised to get the current market value. you need to find out what your tax liability and tax exemptions are.
