not a dentist, but i was diagnosed with leukemia in 2001 and my gums bleed a lot.also some times your gums recede, and the breath from a leukemia patient is very noticeable.

Are you sure he said leukemia? Maybe he said leukopenia. That's a growth on the upper pallette of the mouth. It's a bulge some distance from the top of the teeth, so the chance of an abscess in the space above the teeth is ruled out.

I don't see how a dentist could tell if a person had Leukemia or not. It is a blood disease that has to be tested. Perhaps your dentist should stick to being a dentist and not trying to scare people making them think they have cancer. This person sounds like a jerk to be honest and had no right to scare you like this.

My word no! That seems to me like an OBGYN telling my my sinuses are infected! That's a little scary!

I do not know what the gums would show to make him think that. Do you have excessively white gums? I mean, perhaps, it was the color? I do not know. Strange diagnoses for a dentist!

Leukemia is diagnosed by blood tests
The blood is looked at microscopically.
I think your dentist is way out of his league

It could be because of swollen or bleeding gums and/or swollen tonsils, but that could be from a large amount of things. I don't see how he would be able to check from just that. Doesn't make any sense at all. I wish you the best of luck!
