For basketball i prefer Spalding, maybe Rawlings for baseball. Not a bad aball i guess, but maybe you could try the Spalding Neverflat or a Game Ball. (just trying to help here, so i'll add that aNeverlfat's don't get flat easily ((as advertised)) but on outdoor courts, the grip might "dry" a little from it's "awesome" grip before, but still a good ball.)

you could also try Academy or the NBA Store, i saw you already have seen the Dick's Sporting Good's Website...
Academy - http://www.academy.com/
or
the NBA Store -
http://store.nba.com/home/index.jsp?clic...

hope this helped.

Extra: your choice of a basketball may also vary if you want a leather (most sed i believe) ball, a microfiber composite ball (the NBA's failed experiment - still a "solid" ball) another type of grip or a "special" ball that has a players's name or an exta Nike "twist" on it, but it has a sort-of "plasticy" feel to it.

good luck and hope you like your decison and outcome.

Ive never used a Rawlings ball but if you want the official Spalding ball i think you can find one for about the same price. Places like Wal-Mart has some for about $25-30, depending on the ball.

That is an indoor/outdoor ball. It won't wear out fast. It has a 'tacky' feel to it that gives you a firm grip. You have to decide if you'll like that or not.

The downside is that it isn't very much like the leather balls that you will play with in regulation indoor games (like high schools and college). But it should be a good practice ball.

If you're going to use it for outdoor use then yes, but for indoor use NO! Buy the Wilson Jet; best basketball ever made!

That ball looks like overpriced garbage. If you're just gonna mess around with it or play a lot outside, buy a Wal-Mart $5 ball. If you actually want a good ball, get a Wilson Evolution or Wilson Jet.
