The Arctic ice cap has collapsed at an unprecedented rate this summer an levels of sea ice in the region now stand at a record low, scientists sai last night. Experts said they were "stunned" by the loss of ice, with an are almost twice as big as Britain disappearing in the last week alone. So much ic has melted this summer that the north-west passage across the top of Canada i fully navigable, and observers say the north-east passage along Russia's Arcti coast could open later this month. If the increased rate of melting continues, th summertime Arctic could be totally free of ice by 2030

Mark Serreze, an Arctic specialist at the US National Snow and Ice Data Centre at Colorado University, which released the figures, said: "It's amazing. It's simply fallen off a cliff and we're still losing ice." The Arctic has now lost about a third of its ice...

Conservatives denial of global warming is historically consistent with their denial of many realities that challenges their very ideological/philosophical being and that is the STATUS QUO MUST NEVER CHANGE .

The hand maiden to this dispicably dysfunctional trait is conservative's HOLY GRAIL which is NOTHING , ABSOLUTELY NOTHING COMES BEFORE THE PURSUIT OF AMERICA"S NATIONAL INTERESTS ( READ PROFITS)

If the persuit of filthy lucre results in the destruction of the earth than so be it for the massive social conservatives (read vile Christian fundies) assures all that if the earth is to be destroyed it is God's will as they collectively orgasm over the coming RAPTURE..


While it is FACTUALLY true that liberals at all levels are leading the parade in demanding massive changes as a result of global warming let there be no mistake but that we are really being friggin partisans and somewhat hypocritical here for I know many friggin progressive liberals who refuse to give up their FILTHY GAS GUZZLING SUVS and a host of other environmentally destructive habits .

You know, the people that act as though having a different opinion on something which is NOT SETTLED is akin to Holocaust denial are the *real* stupid ones.

If the rest of the world really cares, why aren't they doing anything about global warming? The reason is that they only see it as a way to get money from America. Why else would virtually all of the signatories of Kyoto NOT be even coming close to fulfilling their obligations? The bottom line is, they don't see us as stupid so much as they see us as a "cash cow."
