because of it we have progressed in science and medicine and our artists continue to be influenced by the renaissance artists. we also benefit from the lack of influence by the church and need to keep holding christianity and all religieon in it's place or there will be NO progress.

The term itself ("Renaissance") was coined in the 19th century.
