If an average ammonia based carpet cleaning detergent doesn't work you can try hydrogen peroxide and if that doesn't work standard bleach. I like to use the upholstery attachment on a standard carpet cleaning machine to do the seats or carpet in a car.

If it is an oily stain then you'll have to use something like Simple Green. This works well on oil and transmission fluid stains on clothes.

Good Luck!
