Lower Level classes wanting to go to U of M Ann Arbor?

Question

I want to go to the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. I was planning on taking AP Chemistry this year but because of a scheduling problem I am taking Physics. I have AC Analysis but other than that I am taking regular level classes. Basically assuming everything I say in the following is true, do you think I should be able to get in?

Assume I have a 4.0 after Junior year
I live in Ann Arbor
My dad went to U of M Ann Arbor
I get around a 2000 SAT score
I have a job
I have a few special skills
I am president or leader or head of a few clubs (ones where everyone gets a nice sounding title, but they probably don't know that)
I take 2 or 3 AP classes senior year, and don't fail them all.

I did ask this before, but I got screwed over on the class scheduling so now I have a different situation. I could do some community service, but what do you think. Does anyone have any information about the kids that get into U of M that are from Ann Arbor (we have a lower standard)? Thanks.

I see nothing that would rule you out. You stand as good a chance as any of the middle of the pack, as far as I'm aware. Michigan has rejected plenty of 4.0 students in the past, as well as others with comparable credentials. Basically, you should apply to several schools including U of M (obviously) and just wait to see. You're not a shoe-in, but you're surely not a shoe-out either. Don't set yourself up for disappointment, but I would feel pretty good about my odds if I were you.

To be honest, since your dad went, you'll most likely get in. Typically if you have a parent or other close relative (sibling) who went to the college, they usually just let ya in (provided you're not dumb). I'd say you have a shot. Several of my friends went to UofM and I sort of wonder how they got in... Getting in isn't all that hard, I mean really... all they really look at is how well your SAT/ACT are, and if a family member went to the school. For the most part the over look extra curricular activities, and things of that sort. I mean those things only help if you're 'average'
