Get a better job

Also do you mean you will never vacation to California?

If you ever want to own a home or live better, there are so many options that are affordable in other parts of the country. Start looking around for a part of the country that you think you would like and then check out the job opportunities and what else is available to you. Time to do some soul searching and figure out what is important to you now and what will be in the future. There are lots of great places-not just California.

I left and I don't miss it. I was able to buy a house in my new state without a job! (a few years ago, probably wouldn't be the case now).

It's crowded and expensive in California. I finally came to the conclusion that I had no quality of life there so I did some research and I moved. I think if you start looking at other states, maybe even just through www.craigslist.org for now, you might find a place that offers you a lot more quality for a lot less money. Good luck!

I moved out of California two years ago and I don't plan to move back. I'm one of the beneficiaries of this housing bubble. I agree that prices in California are outrageously expensive.
"Money" is only one of the aspects in your life. To me, happiness and quality of life is more important. It's all about how you value your life. Moving to another place may work for someone but not for others.

Check out your options. Start with what you do for a living, where else could you do that, what's that area like, what's it cost, etc.

For all I know you're in a trade where California is your only choice. That's the first thing to know, what are your choices.
