the teams designate captains *c for captain) and the players wear the patches. the 49ers have 10 team captains and you are only allowed to choose 5, so coach nolan decided that no one would wear the patches so no one would be left out.

hmmm think about it what does "C" stand for in any sport...... Captain! Football has more captains then baseball and basketball but yes that is how they acknowledge the accomplishment of being a captain!! I know ill get a thumbs down but seriously you had to ask!!
