I think it is nature's way of getting them to go out on their own.

Teenagers are hyper-aware of dynamics. The finely tuned ideas of what is cool and what is not cool leads them to act certain ways.
This over-rides their lack of experience and next thing you know, you are dismissed with a "whatever."
With adolescence coursing through their veins, they are practically super-human; able to stay up all night and they heal very quickly. This gives them the "edge."

Because their brains and personalities are developing enough to be able to see possibilities that they didn't think of a few years previous. but they don't have the experience or judgment to realize that their potential solutions won't work.
Which is why Winston Churchill said, "A man who is not a liberal at 20 has no heart, but a man who is not a conservative at 40 has no brain".

well I'm a teenager and i dont think i know everything. i barley understand anything about today's society (laws,income tax,etc.). i would say that i know a lot when it comes to school, but i know nothing about life on my own, and that is because i have my parents to support me. some teenagers do think they know everything and think that they will be able to last in today's society on their own, but the people who i hang out with think otherwise and so do i.
