Okay...You can get emancipated....so they are correct along those lines...However, in order to do that, you actually have to go throuh the court systems.
I was 17 when I got pregnant and my mother wouldnt allow me to move in with the babys father...so my father actually signed for my b/f to be my legal guardian....And we have been HAPPILY married for 12 years....
However, I am not saying this is the right choice for everyone, because its not... I have a friend that was the same age as me and shs is now divorced with 4 kids....
All I am going to say is... be very careful about your decision and I am sure you will make the right choices!!!
Good Luck in whatever you choose...

A minor (under 18) is not emancipated in ANY state merely because they are pregnant/have a child. A minor parent has medical emancipation (meaning they can make medical decisions regarding the pregnancy and regarding their child's medical care) and they have authority/parenting rights over their own child, but that is the extent of their emancaption. They are still subject to the control and authority of their own parents. So their parents get to decide where they are/aren't allowed to live.
Minnesota does not have an emancipation statute (not all states do), but even if they did no judge will emancipate a minor so they can go live with their boyfriend, even if they have a child with that boyfriend. That is not the purpose of emancipation.

Yes, that is correct. Once you are pregnant, you are legally able to be emancipated. However, I don't recommend doing it! If you want more information, contact Legal Aid of Minnesota.

no thats not true..your parents still have full control of you..
you need to become legally emancipated...through the court system..prove you are able to provide for yourself and your child..etc..before this can happen

California-- my friend had her baby on her 16th b-day and she was able to move in with her 21yr old bf who was the babys dad.
yes bad ages i know
but her grandmother,(who was her legal gardian because her mom is stupid)
had to sign her over
but once you have a baby you basically have legal rights because you have a dependant, and are no longer a dependant on your parents..
