State issue, meaning individual states should decide this (and do for the most part).
I think it's young, considering the immaturity of urban kids, especially females.
However, rural kids generally mature long before, so maybe 16 for them.

In my state, you can get it at 16. I think that as long as the teenager has some limitations, it is fine. No underage drinking, even without a car would be one. Another is only one passenger, as most accidents happen when there a groups of kids in cars. Any tickets, or breaking of the laws would mean immediate removal of drivers license until the age of 18.

There should be more extensive driver's education. Here in NC the driver's ed course is a joke. The reason it is the number one killer of teens is lack of proper training. Every state needs to revamp their highly antiquated driver's education course. I would say no to the question, but I remember what a thrill it was to get my license at 16.

I am not sure... My son is now 19. He lost his license when he was 17 for pot sales and then got a DUI 2 months later. Complete knucklehead. All of his friends also lost their licenses despite the fact all they had to do was look at each other and learn from their mistakes. The whole bunch was without a vehicle. A whole other group of his friends died or were seriously injured in accidents. Many of them were not their fault but their inexperience was against them. I say if you are old enough to go to war to fight and die for your country, then you are old enough to drive. 18 is the supposed age of adulthood although I firmly believe it is somewhere around 25. +/- a year. At the other side of this is Senior Citizen's and how old is too old? Hum...

Yes they should, IF they can pass a driver's exam.
Many high school kids could not afford to go to college without having a job. If they can't drive, they can't have a job, at least in the majority of situations.

You should only be allowed a driver's license with your diploma! Education first!

Yes. Because their parents get mad if they have to drive them everywhere. I'm 15 and my mother always gets mad that she has to drive me everywhere.
